YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program - 50 shortlisted candidates attend “All-round Jr. Astronauts Training Camp”
Prepare for 2nd round competition

May 22, 2023

Solely sponsored and organized by YF Life Insurance International Ltd. (YF Life), the 2023 YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program has received an overwhelming response this year. Following a stringent selection process, the 1st round recruitment concluded in mid-April. The 50 shortlisted candidates, each with one parent, attended a two-day "All-round Jr. Astronauts Training Camp", which featured a space-exploration program conducted by the Hong Kong Space Museum, and a day of adventure-based physical training held at Noah’s Ark Hong Kong, all designed to unlock their potential and prepare themselves for the 2nd round competition.

The 2nd round competition of the "YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program" will be held on May 13, 2023. The 50 shortlisted candidates will undergo a series of tests of their physical fitness, space knowledge, and presentation skills, and 20 finalists will be selected to attend the final interview.

Launched in 1999, the YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program was the first program to provide simulated astronaut training for children from Hong Kong and Macau. It has been keenly supported by parents, children, and schools, and with a number of community leaders and university principals from Hong Kong and Macau to act as honorary patrons of the program. With its innovative and unique training methodology, the program continues with its aim to stimulate children’s enthusiasm for space exploration and advanced technology, as well as boost their self-confidence, the ability to face challenges, and to encourage them to live the spirit of “It is Possible!”  The program selection process is divided into 3 stages, with eight finalists being appointed as YF Life Jr. Astronauts, to undergo a 9-day U.S. Space-Exploration Journey, together with their participating parent, this summer.
