Terms and Conditions for Combat-COVID-19 Protections

1) The words “we”, “us”, “our” and “the Company” refer to YF Life Insurance International Ltd.

2) “COVID-19” means confirmed cases of COVID-19 as defined by the World Health Organization.

3) A HK$6,000,000 Combat-COVID-19 Protections fund has been set up by the Company to help people diagnosed with COVID-19.

4) Combat-COVID-19 Protections is applicable to successful Participants (“Participants”) with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 within the Benefit Period. We shall pay the following benefits out of the Combat-COVID-19 Protections fund on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the time of the first claim application is received by us until the Combat-COVID-19 Protections fund is exhausted:

a) a benefit of HK$10,000 will be paid if the Participant is diagnosed with COVID-19 within the Benefit Period;

b) if the benefit in (a) above is paid or payable, an additional benefit of HK$10,000 will be paid if one or more of the Participant’s Family Member(s) Living Regularly with the Participant is / are also diagnosed with COVID-19 within the Benefit Period; and

c) a Free Death Benefit of HK$100,000 will be paid if the Participant dies due to COVID-19 within the Benefit Period.

5) The Participant must fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • be aged from 18 to 65 on the Registration Date;
  • be the holder of a valid Hong Kong or Macau identity card;
  • his/her personal data must match with our Company record of the data submitted at the time of registration; and
  • the entire registration process must have been conducted in Hong Kong (for Participants who are Hong Kong identity card holders) or Macau (for Participants who are Macau identity card holders), otherwise, no benefits will be payable.

6) We shall not pay any benefits for the following situations:

  • death not caused directly by or resulting from COVID-19;
  • any pre-existing conditions in respect of the Participant and the Participant’s Family Members Living Regularly with the Participant existed on or before the Registration Date for the Combat-COVID-19 Protections, and presented signs and symptoms of COVID-19 which the Participant or the Participant’s Family Members Living Regularly with the Participant has been aware of or should reasonably have been aware of;
  • the Participant and / or the Participant’s Family Members Living Regularly with the Participant has / have been diagnosed or are / is reasonably suspected to have contracted COVID-19 by a Doctor on or before the Registration Date of the Combat-COVID-19 Protections;
  • for Free Death Benefit, the Participant dies after 60 days from the date of diagnosis of COVID-19; suicide, attempted suicide or injuries due to insanity self-infliction or functional disorder of the mind.

7) The diagnosis of COVID-19 must be made by a Doctor and must be confirmed with proven objective evidence of the infection. A clinical diagnosis will not be sufficient.

8) For avoidance of doubt, regardless of the number of successful registration for the Combat-COVID-19 Protections and the frequency of diagnosis of COVID-19, the benefits payable out of the Combat-COVID-19 Protections fund will be subject to the following:

  • the aggregate benefit in (4a) and (4b) above will be subject to a maximum of HK$10,000 for each person diagnosed with COVID-19;
  • if the Participant is entitled to the Extra Death Benefit for COVID-19, the Free Death Benefit in (4c) will not be payable. Under all circumstances, the aggregate Free Death Benefit and Extra Death Benefit payable will be subject to a maximum of HK$300,000 for each Participant.

9) “Benefit Period” means the period from the day after the Registration Date to March 31, 2021 (both dates inclusive).

10) “Doctor” means a person, other than the Participant, qualified in western medicine legally authorized in the geographical area of his practice to render medical and surgical services and who is not a member of the Participant’s immediate family or Living Regularly with the Participant.

11) “Family Member” means legally married spouse, child(ren), siblings and parents of the Participant, who is a holder of a valid Hong Kong identity card (for Participant who is a Hong Kong identity card holder) or Macau identity card (for Participant who is a Macau identity card holder).

12) “Living Regularly” means residing in the same home on the date of diagnosis of COVID-19 of the Family Member.

13) “Registration Date” means the date of successful registration for the Combat-COVID-19 Protections, which is stated as the Registration Date on the confirmation email.

14) The benefit payment will be paid to the Participant, or to his / her estate if he / she is deceased on the date of payment.

15) The personal information of the Participant, the Participant’s Family Members Living Regularly with the Participant (if applicable) and payee for due diligence is required at the time of registration and claim application, including but not limited to valid identity card, travel document copy, valid and acceptable address proof (e.g., address proof issued within 3 months by specific institutions), and relationship proof.

16) Claims application should be furnished to us within 90 days from the date of diagnosis of COVID-19. Participant has to provide official proof of the confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 by the government or relevant authorized institution, with case number and personal data matching with the registration record.

17) We reserve the right to change the Terms and Conditions at our sole discretion without prior notice.

18) If there are any disputes, the decision of the Company shall prevail.

19) The Combat-COVID-19 Protections is not applicable to any person who is either a Consultant or a staff member of the Company on the date of Registration.

20) These Terms and Conditions for the Combat-COVID-19 Protections are issued under and will be construed in accordance with the laws of the place where the Participant registers for the Combat-COVID-19 Protections. All the rights and entitlements under these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, codes and requirements of relevant governmental or regulatory authorities as promulgated and amended from time to time.
